This is the bust of the Roman Emperor Caracalla modeled after a famous sculpture one displayed in the Vatican Museum. The emperor is an innovative pose for the rules of the time, with the face turns towards the left instead of the usual frontal view. Along with the well-directed drapery, this movement emphasizes the expressiveness of the face. Precisely because of its character of innovation compared to classical portraiture, this work is inspired by Michelangelo in the realization of his Brutus, in which the rule of the head and the drapery occur.
